Some of the best musubi
Ah, musubi! That’s one of those cozy comfort foods that always take me back to childhood memories. Growing up in Hawaii, musubi was almost a staple in my diet. It’s fascinating how different cultures have their own unique twists on similar foods, isn’t it? In Japan, they’ve got their onigiri, those delightful rice balls, and in Hawaii, we’ve got our own version – the musubi.
The key to a good musubi is good rice. I prefer rice imported from Japan but you can use normal Calrose rice from the store. It can be intimidating to make your own musubi for the first time, especially if you haven’t had it before. There’s a tendency to overcook the rice and get a sloppy mess. It’s probably best to try it first. Here’s my list of the best musubi places in Honolulu, Hawaii. My favorites are Musubi Cafe Iyasume and Mana Musubi.
